I am Alena Berry, a 17-year-old living in New York City. I am planning on pursuing Fashion Business Management at FIT next school year. Among my love for writing and fashion lies my deep passion for art.
What art means to me- I’m not the best at verbally expressing myself. Something about being so openly vulnerable can be frightening. Art is how I speak my truth without being completely transparent. Some look at what I drew and completely get what I was feeling and some don’t- I find comfort within the ambiguity.
“Developing your own voice through lines and shapes on a page is both bizarre and amazing. To find yourself using a sheet of paper and some markers is something that once you tap into- it’s freeing. In a world where we are constantly being confined by the uncontrollable aspects of life it’s nice to have something that can release you. Art is some form of magic”
